Sweet Brunch With My Sister In Sofia

Travel is one of my favorite things in life, even when I travel back to my own town of Sofia. I love the familiarity of being there, but I also like to rediscover long forgotten places.

Culture, history and dining is the formula that makes a city interesting and Sofia has it all.

Walking around and stopping for coffee and brunch is an absolute fave past time for me and my sister.

On a beautiful spring Sunday we did just that. We enjoyed the beautiful weather in the center of the city and visited a small vegan restaurant called Sun Moon.

This is a cute little space with many healthy options and adorable decor. Of course on a warm sunny day we sat outside and this gave me the opportunity to take few photos of the interior.

Located in an old house the place have few rooms on different levels with  mix of modern and new furnishings to create a perfect  cozy space.

After brunch we walked some more and stopped for few photos of my look.

I been avoiding yellow for a very long time because is never been my color. However recently I got few yellow pieces and I am loving it. Everything started with a pair of Michael Kors sandals and the rest just followed up.

Spring is the season for blazers and I was wearing a  Zara blazer that I got at the last sale for only $22.00 For a casual look I pair it with black jeans, killer pumps and a cool Calvin Klein t-shirt.

In true Bulgarian fashion we stopped for coffee again and this concluded our amazing day.

Stay with me and my journey to see what other places I visited while in Sofia and let me know in the comments below what your favorite place to travel to is.

Third Time’s A Charm

Do you have these days when you have the perfect plan for a night out and your hair and makeup is on point, your outfit is banging and in the end the weather has a different plan for you? Well, I had it happen to me recently. I have mentioned before, I like to take short weekend trips with my husband and explore new places or go back to places we already love.

One of our favorite spots we visit over and over again is the National Harbor in Maryland. Located close to Washington, DC and Alexandria, VA, this is the perfect place for great times with tons of restaurants, night life and historic sites.

So we are there and ready to go out, I am loving my outfit and of course planning to take few pictures of it before dinner. The moment we get out of the hotel it started to rain like cats and dogs and my shoot is ruined. We end up having a great time despite the rain and I decided to wear it again just to take the photos.

It’s that simple right? Wrong! We get back and the following weekend I put my outfit on for the second time and its picture time and again the weather is a total bummer. It was so dark and gray outside, I only had one usable photo. At this point I was getting a little annoyed, but also very determined to have these pictures taken.

So “third time’s a charm” couldn’t be more true than in this case and finally I got the photos for this post. I didn’t let some weather to stay in my way. Of course I have to break down the details for you.

My jacket is Rachel Zoe and was only just over a $100, down from $1300 at a sample sale. My dress is Zara and I got it from their sale for $15.99. Originally I had on Charlotte Olympia wedge sandals, but by the third shoot it got so cold I had to wear my Karen Millen booties. My jewelry is DVF and A.V.MAxx all sample sale finds.

My Obsession With Capes Is Real

I am obsessed with capes. I don’t remember how and when it started, but all I know is that I am obsessed with them. Let me tell you, I love all clothes and collect them in few categories, but when it comes to capes it’s a whole different story.

I found one of my all time favorite capes many years ago in a vintage store in Manhattan and every time I wear it, people will literally stop me on the street. I still have it and wear it every winter and will get the same reaction every single time.

The latest one I found was on one of my trips to Upstate New York. There is cute vintage store and  every time I am in the area I have to check out and chat with owner. When I got there that day, she had just put out a new rack of garments. The first thing I saw was this gorgeous gray cape, right then and there I knew it was coming home with me, but to be honest most capes I meet do 🙂

I love the color, I love the style and the price was amazing too. The owner gave me sweet little discount and made my day even better.

The day I was ready to wear it, I was not sure where I wanted to shoot my look, then it hit me, the charming  streets of Hoboken, NJ are the perfect background to showcase this beauty.

Here is the perfect place to mention few more things on how to wear vintage, but look current. I love vintage pieces, but don’t like to have  a vintage look. In order to achieve that, I only wear one vintage piece at a time, everything else has to be modern. In my case here are all the other elements of my look. New and on trend.

My jeans are from Target ( you have seen them many times, they are the best jeans ever ), my over the knee boots are Elie Tahari a penny find from Nordstrom rack, turtle neck is Zara and my bag is Karen Millen.

By now you know I find everything on sale or from sample sales and some of the styles are not available, but I linked similar pieces below in case you want to recreate  my look.

The Biggest Trend Of The Season – Glen Plaid

Every season there is one trend that dominates the fashion world. Ever since Fashion Week wrapped up last February, it was clear that plaid will be everywhere for the Fall/Winter of 2017.

It has been in the pages of every magazine, on the windows  of every store and on anyone who is related to fashion. It is been so popular it actually dethroned velvet as the biggest trend this year.

As a respected fashionista, I have to jump on the bandwagon and rock my own Glen Plaid pants. This trend  is not new to me. I have been loving and wearing plaid (accept for plaid shirts, so not my thing) for years and actually have  a great old pair  of wide leg D&G pants in my own collection. I am planning to wear them soon and create a separate post about it.

The ones I am wearing today are from Who What Wear collection in Target. I know I have been shopping way too much in Target, but you can’t help yourself when the styles and the prices are this good.

I originally saw the pants when they first came out in Spetember, but to me no matter how low the price is (with very few exceptions) I just don’t like to pay full price. So I waited for few weeks and ……they sold out. I was so upset, because I wanted them so bad. I checked my local store and they had nothing left. I went online and they were completely  sold out. And this is when I started checking every day on the website to see if someone would return them and they would appear again. Thankfully they  did, and guess what, they were on sale for $16.98. So it was a happy ending for me, but also a lesson learned….Iif I really like something, maybe it’s not a good idea to wait too long.

I am very big on turtlenecks in the winter and my cashmere DKNY was the perfect pair for the pants. This sweater is so thick and luxurious, you can wear it on its own during the winter. You will never bielive it that it was a thrift find for $4.99. My clutch is from a sample sale last year and is  Sanctuary for only $10.00. The shoes are from Karen Millen, also a great  sample sale deal for only $30.00, down from $225.00 They look exactly like the Gianvito Rossi which I linked below for you along side a cheaper option from DSW.

I topped everything with a coat also from Target I got last year on sale for only $19.98.

If you like my look and want to create your own check the links below and let me know if you are loving the plaid or you had enough of it.

Modern Vintage Look For A Girls Night Out

It’s not that often when you can wear a flowy floral dress in November in New York. Usually around this time we are being hit by a snow storm (or two) and fighting the elements in full gear. Not this year! The temperatures last weekend were in the high 70’s and felt more spring than fall. I had plans with my friends to hit the city for a night out and that was the perfect opportunity to showcase my recent vintage purchase. If you follow me on Instagram, you have seen the amazing Paloma Picasso book clutch I found in a flea market in NJ. I only paid $20.00 for it ( it was $25, but me being me, had to talk the price down with the seller).

I did some research on it and was surprise to find out how rare they are and still going for $400-500 on Ebay. The clutch is the perfect brown suede that screamed fall and I happened to have the same color Haute Hippie suede vest in my closet already. I scored the vest few years ago when Haute Hippie used to have great sample sales. At that time I paid only $40.00 for it. Marked down from $695.00.

I don’t like to be too matchy-matchy and I am always looking for colors to flow together, that’s why I wore it this floral dress from Target. The pop of green makes the look fresh and modern and compliments the brown perfectly. Of course I found it the  on the sale rack for $24.48.

Last but not least are my Loefler Randal booties I got  from the Rebecca Taylor sample sale for only $25.00 marked down from a  retail price of  $395.00 (the last sample sale was a big disappointment with higher prices and uninspiring styles).

Me and the girls had a great time in Grenwich village. We found the cutest grocery store that looked like a fun beauty boutique and had an amazing dinner.

Instant Cool And The Black Leather Jacket

If there is one piece of clothing every woman  needs regardless of shape, size or age that will be the black leather jacket. The universal wear and the stylish look makes it one of the most important staples in our wardrobes. If you are looking for an  outfit upgrade and an instant cool girl look,  the black leather jacket is your answer. Pair it with jeans and cute t-shirt, throw it over a floral dress or keep it more professional with a pencil skirt and shirt for work, there is no limit on the possible wear.

I am a lover and collector of leather jackets, I have a few that are over 15 years old and let me tell you, they get better with age.

The one I am wearing today is from one of my favorite brands, Viparo, and was an unbelievable hhrift store find for only $20. They usually retail between $300-$800, so this was a really great score.  It has the perfect moto style and the cool writing on the back.

I was going for casual glam, so I had to pair it with my Paul Andrew booties, that I got not that long ago from their sample sale. I spent more than usual for them, but they are so beautiful and still  over 85% off.

I am also loving Target lately, the WhoWhatWear collection is getting better and better. When I go to Target my first stop is always the clearance section, it can be hit or miss, but most likely you are going to find something nice on  sale.  My skirt was only $7.98 in the store, but still full price online, so make sure to browse your local store first. My T-shirt is my H&M favorite T-shirt ever.  To really give this look a little  extra  pop, I had to wear one of the new bags I just got from a great sample sale. This time the Karen Millen sample sale delivered great prices on bags and shoes and I took few of them home. I only paid $40.00 discounted from $325.00.

If you like my look and looking for some of these pieces, I linked similar styles below.

Always have fun with your style. Happy shopping.
